White Lasagna Recipe

If you are looking to eat healthy in the new year, then here is a great recipe for white lasagna.



* 3/4 cup of chopped shallots (about 6)
* 3 sticks of butter
* 1/2 cup of flour
* 1/2 tsp of grated nutmeg
* 3 3/4 cups of milk
* 1 cup of chicken stock
* 2 eggs
* 1/2 cup of dry Marsala
* 1/2 tsp of sea salt
* 1/2 tsp of pepper
* 1 cup of grated Parmigiano Reggiano cheese
* 12 lasagna noodles


For the first step of this white lasagna recipe, we are going to prepare the white sauce. Prepare a heavy sauce pan and add in the butter, melting it over medium low heat. Next, add in the chopped shallots and cook over medium heat. Stir the shallots and cook until they are soft and tender. Add in the flour after the shallots are soft and turn the heat to low, stirring the shallots until they are mixed well together with the flour. After about 5 minutes, add in the grated nutmeg while stirring. Whisk the shallot mixture slowly and add in the milk simultaneously. After adding the milk, do the same for the chicken stock. Continue whisking the stock until it boils, and cover the sauce pan to simmer the sauce. Remember to uncover the sauce and stir the stock every 5 minutes. When the stock turns thick, remove the sauce pan from heat. Crack in the eggs and stir well to cook the eggs. Finally, add in Marsala, salt, and 1/2 cup of Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese.Stir well and set sauce aside for later use.

Now, we are going to layer the lasagna. Prepare a baking pan and oil the baking dish slightly.Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.Boil the lasagna noodles in salted boiling wate and cool the noodles in cold water. Dry the noodles between kitchen towels and spread 3 noodles at the bottom of the baking pan, over lapping each other at the sides. Spread the white sauce over the noodle and repeat the second layer with 3 more noodles. Spread the sauce over the second layer of lasagna noodles. Repeat for the third layer of 3 lasagna noodles.Spread the sauce over the third layer of noodles.Repeat for the final fourth layer of noodles.Spread the last layer of sauce over the noodle and sprinkle the last cup of Parmigiano Reggiano cheese over the sauce.Sent the lasagna to the oven to bake for 45 minutes. After 45 minutes, the top layer of cheese should be bubbling and become brown in color.Set aside the lasagna to cool for 10 minutes and get ready to serve.
